“Frozen rabbits…arrived from Australia to supplement our lustreless diet. The rabbits came with their fur coats on, eyes bulging from their sockets and whiskers standing out like match-sticks. They were a frightening sight, as well as most repulsive to the appetite.” (1)

 

Cookhouse, Witley Camp” was painted by Anna Airy on the commission of  the Canadian War Memorials Fund, founded by Lord Beaverbrook in November 1916.
