Witley, February 20, 1917

Tuesday   The exam continued & ended, it was general, horses, amunition [sic], knotting  & lashing etc

A very practical examination, in other words.

In the Divisional Training Scheme laid out for the month of February, this is day two of the third week, devoted to training at the battery level: all three sections working together “under B.Cs [Battery Commanders] on Schemes set by, and under supervision of, Brigade Commanders. To be carried out on exactly the same lines as Section Training.”

The knots (page one of three) are pictured in Notes on Field Artillery Training compiled by the officers of the 34th Battery, CFA, CEF. 1916. 175.
