Sunday       Came out [of quarantine] yesterday Milford Church tonight

Today is “Low Sunday,” the first Sunday after Easter, the end of the Octave [eight days] of Easter.  It may be called low in contrast to the “high” festival of Easter Day itself. It is a common joke, however, that the name derives from the dramatic drop in attendance from one Sunday to the next, as the twice-a-year (Christmas and Easter) congregation goes back to more literal observance of the sabbath day of rest.

Freed from quarantine and from the pressure of inspection, Percy takes himself to Evensong, to say the old prayers for peace and protection.
