Monday    The weather is great set out at 9 A.M. this morning for a 15 mile route march to Petworth, Sussex we got to Northchapel at noon & stopped for lunch arriving at Petworth at 5:30 pm

91 Those old treks in England crop.jpgAlmost due south of Witley, Petworth is where the Earls of Northumberland had a great estate, the house built in the 17th century and its 700-acre (284 hectares) grounds landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century. It is now one of the properties of the National Trust.

The photograph is from Percy’s small album, and is entitled, “Those old treks in England.”
